Sandtrapper Improves European-based Distribution Through New Agreement With QTIP Distribution LLC County Wicklow, Ireland

For 2010, the Sandtrapper is continuing to strengthen its presence with key distribution points serving Europe and North Africa.

Sandtrapper’s recent alliance with QTIP Distribution based in County Wicklow, Ireland, will allow both companies to expand their product lines and compete more effectively in the marketplace. “The entire team at QTIP is excited about teaming up with Sandtrapper,” says Gavin Kelly, QTIP Distribution’s director. “It rounds out the product line we
carry and gives us the opportunity to provide the best balance of quality products at competitive prices.”

Bunker renovation has quickly become an important topic as facilities battle increasing maintenance costs. Even during
challenging economic times, the pressure to control costs through capital investments is high. When asked what this means for QTIP, Kelly adds: “In the last few years we’ve seen a large increase in the number of golf course renovations focused exclusively on bunkers. Many times, these larger renovation projects begin with trial projects. The increased distribution points offered by Sandtrapper give us the ability to quickly ship small orders in a cost-effective manner.”

According to Kelly, bunker renovations are including more than just bunker liners and he describes the importance of
new technologies launched by Sandtrapper in the past few years. “The Sandtrapper team has developed two brilliant products that are really quite revolutionary,” he says. “Super Mighty Edge has been available in the US for
the past several years but hadn’t been distributed in Europe until we finalised our agreement with Sandtrapper. It’s a semi-rigid synthetic that installs at the bunker edge and controls rootzone migration. It also protects the edge during trimming. The second product is SIFON Drain Belt. Designed around a patented, micro-channel architecture, the drain belt replaces traditional pipe/ gravel drainage systems. It relies on capillary action to pull water into the system and siphon action to move water into outlet pipes.

Per linear metre, SIFON increases drainage performance by 300 per cent.” Kelly comments on the range of customer service issues that Sandtrapper and QTIP Distribution hope to tackle by working together: “We know that new technologies require a greater level of articulation,” he says. “As we move forward in 2010, we’re planning several bunker renovation events to help facilities understand product issues and plan their renovations most effectively. We believe this strategic alliance will deliver bunker product efficiencies not yet realised in Europe and North Africa.”
